The adventures of Harry Potter were a bomb that exploded some time ago- a “bomb” I mean in a positive way. However, the effect the adventures had on children and not only them was a real bomb effect! Since the day the first books were sold and read, looks like the whole world divided in halves: some people (mostly Harry fans) think he is an absolute hero and guardian angel helping them to go through difficulties in their own lives; others believe that Harry and whatever happens to him in adventures is too scary for children and that some misbehavior of children is the result of the books they read. Here is what the author J.K. Rowling says about her “thrilling” books:
“I feel very strongly that there is a move to sanitize literature because we’re trying to protect children, not from the grizzly facts of life, but from their own imaginations.
…Now there’s a reason why we create these stories, and we have always created these stories, and the reason why we have had these pagan festivals, and the reason why even the church allows a certain amount of fear… we need to feel fear, and we need to confront that in a controlled environment. That’s a very important part of growing up, I think.”
Do we really love being scared? Does that really help us become more courageous? Or creative? http://talentdevelop.com/fear-and-being-creative/
What do you think? Does Harry Potter help you to become creative?
